Sending myself profilic message?

Hi all,

I am currently planning a two stage study and trying to program a automated system that will remind participants to return for second study by sending an email to your prolific address.

Is there a way to send myself a profilic message through email so I make sure my little program works? Do I, as a research, have a prolific id?

Thanks!

Hi @Lok,

Yes, you can, via your survey platform. I have tried this using Qualtrics. Basically, you just use the emailing system provided on your survey platform as normal to send these automated emails/messages. However, instead of putting normal emails as recipients’ addresses, you should replace this information with the Prolific email addresses the participants provide in the form of participantid@email.prolific.co. Make sure to set up some conditions to trigger the email automation (e.g., who should get the message and when).

One thing to keep in mind is that the message you send from your survey platform to Prolific email addresses should only contain plain text. Other types such as a hyperlink will cause some formatting inconsistencies.

If this way doesn’t work for you, you could always try to send messages manually and directly on Prolific following the guide here https://researcher-help.prolific.co/hc/en-gb/articles/360009222893-Sending-messages-to-participants.

You can try to create a Prolific account as a participant. You will then have a Prolific ID and email address. Use these data for your automated emails to test if this works

@Lok *just fyi you’ll need to use a different email address than your researcher account when you set up your participant account

Got it! Thanks Chloe and Paul!
