Hi,
I have launched two similar studies (same survey, different demographic) on Prolific, allowing 9 minutes at £7.50/hr (having previously run on Qualtrics where participants were completing in 6 minutes). However, participants are taking 12 minutes to complete on Prolific which has reduced my payment rate to £5.62/hr. Whilst this is not below the minimum, it seems unfair to advertise at one rate and pay another. My first study has completed recruitment (I have yet to review) but I have paused my second study. I would like to reduce the number of participants to ensure that I have enough funds to pay everyone sufficiently. Is it possible to adjust participant numbers downwards?
With many thanks.
Clare
Hello @Clare_Mason and welcome back!
If you wish to close your study early before the maximum number of approved submissions has been reached, you just need to click on the Stop button from the top-right Action menu. Here there are more details on Pausing/Stopping studies: https://researcher-help.prolific.co/hc/en-gb/articles/360010963354-Pausing-stopping-a-study.
Whilst this is not below the minimum, it seems unfair to advertise at one rate and pay another.
Prolific actually adjusts the advertised payment seen by eligible participants in the study description as completion time detaches from the estimated one.
Hope it helps!
