Participant has exceeded maximum possible time but still marked as active

Hello everyone,

I hope you are well.

I am running a study on Prolific, one of the participants has exceeded the maximum allowed time but the person is still marked as “Active” on my portal. I have messaged this person, asking him/her to return form the study if s/he does not wish to continue. I do not receive a response. So I am stuck here…

I wonder how this is possible (exceeding maximum allowed time but still marked as active) and what I can do to change its status to “timed-out” so I can recruit new participants? Thank you very much for your help.

I am sorry to hear about this difficulty.

The Active status will transition to “Timed Out” after about 3 times the maximum time allowed (there is an equation somewhere posted by josh) .

Sometimes, but rarely, participants have been known to get stuck in a specific state. In that case you will need to ask support.
