Algorithm or API to validate a Prolific ID?

Given a Prolific participant ID like “619e049f7648a4e1f8f3645b” (example from API docs), is there a way to confirm that the ID belongs to a valid user?

My use case is pair experiments where having both people participate isn’t strictly necessary, but knowing the person has a valid partner on Prolific (and didn’t just make up an ID) is necessary.

I am afraid I don’t know. I tried sending an email to an ID that I am pretty sure does not exist but it did not bounce back.

But You could write an email and make responding to that email a condition of participation.
